Goodbye, plant
A life-changing decision, indeed
I cannot belong how much time and energy I spent taking care of this plant, thinking about this plant and trying to save this plant.
The caregiver in me tried, oh, how I tried. Once a caregiver...you know how that goes.
This plant required watering every day or else the leaves would go limp and so I dutifully watered it.
If you walked by it or even looked in its general direction, its leaves fell to the floor, and so I swept around it at least daily for fear that the dog would eat the leaves and die. Sweeping done, the plant would wait until I put the broom and dustpan away and it would drop another few leaves on the floor out of spite. This I do believe.
Then one day after relistening (for the billionth time) to one of my favorite audiobooks, "The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck" by the very brilliant Sarah Knight, I threw out the plant. Didn't give two hoots what any of my garden club member friends thought. Thanks, Sarah.
So simple.
